The #1 Personality Trait Every Leader Must Have

The corporate world is a highly charged, ever changing crucible. Leaders in it are sorely tested. In the wake of the 2008 economic meltdown, many of us have been asking questions Leslie Pratch has been exploring for years.  Questions such as:

  • Is it possible to predict which executives are potential time bombs?
  • To tell which young competent investment banker is actually likely a young Warren Buffett?
  • To help executives understand how some aspects of their personalities could adversely affect how they work (and to use that knowledge to make themselves much more effective?)

Leslie believes that it IS possible to make such predictions, and shares how she does so in her new book Looks Good on Paper. Central to her approach is a psychological quality called active coping. In this webinar, Leslie will outline how people cope with problems and opportunities. She will show how you can use this perspective to get better at active coping, and to get better at selecting people for leadership positions.

About the Speaker

Leslie Pratch, founder and CEO of Pratch & Company, is the author of LOOKS GOOD ON PAPER: Using In-Depth Personality Assessment to Predict Leadership Performance (Columbia University Press; July 1, 2014). She's a Booth MBA and Chicago PhD.

A clinical psychologist, Leslie Pratch has been evaluating candidates for leadership positions for more than 15 years. Her Ph.D. dissertation drew on research she conducted at the University of Chicago Booth. This research examined if it were possible to predict the emergence of leaders in a high performing group, using a psychological approach she was developing. It turned out that it was possible. Leslie also got an MBA from the University of Chicago, after she had begun evaluating executives, to give her better tools to understand the issues her clients and their candidates face.
